1. Start Your Vehicle Even When the Key Fob Battery Dies
A dead key fob battery does not necessarily mean you are stranded. Many Ram and Dodge vehicles with push-button ignition have a backup method that allows the vehicle to recognize the key fob's transponder.
If your vehicle does not recognize the key fob, try placing the nose of the fob—the end opposite the emergency key—directly against the engine Start/Stop button while pressing the brake pedal. Then press the Start/Stop button.
This procedure is documented in Ram owner's manuals, including the Ram 1500. The exact method can vary by model and ignition system, so check your owner's manual for the instructions specific to your vehicle.
Pro tip: Practice locating the backup detection area before your key fob battery becomes a problem.
2. Find the Hidden Mechanical Key Inside Your Fob
